The average starting salary for graduates in the power industry is around $52,000, according to APESMA's 2007 Graduate Survey. The average starting salary range was $48,000-$55,000, with the top 10% beginning on $60,000+. These salaries exclude superannuation.

With 1-3 years experience

The average salary rose to about $61,000, with a total package (including superannuation, motor vehicle and other benefits) of $75,000, APESMA's December 2007 Professional Engineers Remuneration Survey found. Half of all respondents in this group had packages between $66,000 and $90,000; 10% earned a total package of $98,000+

At 3-5 years experience

The average package was $98,000. Half of all respondents had packages $72,000-$106,000; with the top 10% earning $108,000+
