Workplace

Take power engineering subjects at uni having a strong grasp of fundamental power concepts is invaluable. Also, try to land an internship with a TNSP or DNSP to gain firsthand experience and a deeper understanding of the grid's complexity. It's a great way to bridge theory with real-world applications, and get your foot in the door!

Who am I

Former marketing professional turned electrical engineer! After a successful career in marketing, I made the leap back to university to pursue my passion for renewable energy.

Why I chose a career in power

We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to combat climate change through the electrification of everything—powered by renewables. The power industry is at the forefront of this transition, and I’m excited to be part of the movement driving real climate action.

Where it all started

The clean energy transition is happening everywhere, and I’m excited to be part of it! From emerging technologies in renewable generation and energy storage to EVs, microgrids, community batteries, and vehicle-to-grid integration—the future of energy is incredibly exciting!

My work experience.
What's next?

I worked in health-tech marketing in both Sydney and San Francisco in both multi-nationals and start-ups before transitioning to engineering. I interned at TransGrid for my engineering placement. I'm currently working at the Australian Power Quality Research Centre on the CELL Microgrid project while completing my thesis on hybrid energy storage systems in microgrids. For next year, I'm still considering different options including pursuing a PhD or stepping into the industry as a graduate engineer.
