Cameron McMurtrie is the API’s new Undergraduate Program Manager. Cameron began his new role in October, and since then it is safe to say that he has been busy with managing the end of year undergraduate activities in the Power UP space while planning the Power UP Program and Scholarship launch for 2025.

In his first week, Cameron attended the Australian Association of Graduate Employers Conference (AAGE) in Melbourne, and by Week 2, Cameron supported the API by helping manage the activities of 25 undergraduate students from across Australia at EECON with our TJ Effeney Award. Both AAGE and EECON/TJ Effeney activities coincided with the API's Alumni and Community Catch Ups in Melbourne and Sydney, where Cameron got to know the broader API Community and current Power UP Scholarship Recipients better.

Cameron has completed a Bachelor of International Studies majoring in Global Sustainable Development alongside Spanish from the University of Wollongong. In the past, Cameron has worked in the university sector with undergraduate students for many years, and we are excited to see his new ideas come to life in the Power UP space!

We asked Cameron for 5 fun facts about himself, and this is what he said:

  • I love AFL footy; my family and I are all mad Geelong Cats supporters.

  • I speak Spanish, one of my majors at university was Spanish.

  • I love surfing. I have never been especially good at it, but it is so much fun.

  • I also love skiing; my dad was a ski instructor back in his day and he was kind enough to teach my siblings and me.

  • I never got my pen license at school, my teacher said that my handwriting was terrible and wouldn’t give it me.
