New resources to educate and inspire students about careers in power

We are thrilled to announce that in two weeks, we will be unveiling a new POWER INDUSTRY Careers resource aimed at high school students, parents, teachers, and career advisors.

As you are aware, the mission of the API is to ensure a sustainable supply of qualified power engineering graduates for the energy sector. To achieve this, it is essential that we inform and inspire students about the diverse career paths available in this dynamic industry.

This initiative is a collaborative effort; earlier this year, we partnered with Study Work Grow to develop these effective resources, which are age-appropriate and clearly outline various roles within the industry. With their extensive experience collaborating with associations and universities, Study Work Grow emphasizes the importance of connecting with career mentors in educational settings—namely, teachers, career advisors, and educational staff.

The resources we will be sharing include "Pathways to Power Engineering – A Guide to Careers in the Power Industry," along with five additional Job Spotlight Guides on:

  • Grid Connections Engineer

  • Maintenance Technician

  • Network Delivery Engineer

  • Power Systems Engineer

  • System Planning Engineer

These resources will be incorporated into our expanding Career Resources webpage, which features materials tailored for Primary School and Secondary School students, as well as support for Undergraduates and Professionals aspiring to become API Power Ambassadors. This initiative aims to further our mission of informing and inspiring the younger generation.
